Socks for Swollen Feet and Ankles: Meet The Sidney and The Fitz

If your feet or ankles swell during the day, or you have poor circulation, sensitive legs, or diabetes, the elastic band on an ordinary sock can dig in and leave uncomfortable marks by the evening. That's exactly why we designed gentle-top socks with no elastic at the cuff at all — just soft, flexible ribbing that holds the sock up gently and evenly, without ever squeezing.

Here are our two gentle-top favourites: one in mohair for warmer months, one in alpaca for all-round softness and warmth.

The Sidney (Mohair, Gentle Top)

Our most popular spring/summer sock. The Sidney has a loose, elastic-free top using a flexible ribbed stitch that applies even pressure all the way round — so there's no tight band digging into swollen ankles. It's a reliable, everyday and office-friendly sock, and a great choice for anyone with poor circulation. 50% Mohair / 50% Polyamide, gentle ribbing, hand-linked toe.

Available as single pairs from £14.99 (shop here), or as a 3-pair bundle for £45.00.

The Fitz (Alpaca, Gentle Top)

For extra warmth and softness, The Fitz brings the same elastic-free, loose-top design to a calf-length alpaca sock. It looks a little tube-like on the shelf, but it's super stretchy and comfortable in wear — ribbed to hold up without a tight band. Perfect for those with poor circulation, diabetics, and anyone with a larger ankle. 55% Alpaca / 45% Polyamide, gentle ribbing, hand-linked toe.

From £18.99 (shop here).

Which one should you choose?

Both give you the same gentle, non-elasticated top — the main difference is fibre and feel. The Sidney's mohair blend is lighter, making it ideal for spring, summer, and everyday office wear. The Fitz's alpaca blend is warmer and softer, better suited to cooler months or anyone who wants a bit more cushioning underfoot.

Whichever you choose, you get all-day comfort without the tight elastic mark — just softness where you need it most.
